Vision and strategy

The cost of bad strategy is high. If you’ve ever wasted time trying to decide which use case to prioritize or which feature to build, it’s likely because your strategic approach wasn’t clear.
No longer. In this workshop, I help you look across your business, your customers, and your market to define a crystal-clear product strategy that can guide you and your team’s decision making.

Whether you’re entering a new market or simply trying to understand how your competitors are innovating, understand the context of your business is critical. However, with a lot on your plate – hiring, managing investor relationships, and more – it’s not always easy to find the time for a deep dive.
I bring over a decade of market research skills to help you understand what you’re up against: from reverse-engineering your competitors’ strategy to understanding your business’ relative strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
Product discovery
-
The number one reason startups fail is that they don’t truly understand their customers’ needs. Either they don’t take the time to learn from their existing or potential users; or, they ask leading questions that garner overly positive answers.
I help you find out what your users really want by leveraging over a decade of experience in research script design, participant recruitment, and session moderation and synthesis.

Sometimes, you already have a product you want to test but lack the skills or the time to understand how people really feel about it. While actual usage tells you the most, releasing a subpar product too early can damage its reputation and hinder long-term growth.
As an independent third-party, I can more easily collect objective reactions to your product to help you understand what works for your users – and, more importantly, what doesn’t.
Team development
-
Not all product managers are immediate rockstars – but that doesn’t mean they can’t level up. Often product teams simply need a clear framework through which they can better understand the product management function and identify areas for growth.
I work with you to understand where you’d like your team to grow and help provide 1-1 or group coaching to develop the skills they need.

Recruiting is one of the most fundamental – but most time-consuming – aspects of your job as a founder or hiring manager. If you have a recruiter peer, you may struggle to help them understand what product management is. If you don’t, you may struggle to screen candidates quickly or design an interview kit that isn’t simply, “Design a phone for blind people.”
I bring a deep experience in HRTech and product assessment to design to help you design unique interview kits that measure product skill, not just interview preparation. If needed, I also help you screen candidates to make sure you’re only interviewing the best, not project managers in disguise.
